“In my late teens and early twenties, I was fit having time to exercise but like most people my focus moved to career and family and overindulging in the wrong food and alcohol.”
“Fast forward to my early fifties and a medical diagnosed me as clinically obese and suffering with fatty liver. It was time for a change of lifestyle and to make time for regular exercise. I started running and while I got fitter, my muscles were feeling tired – I’d lost some muscle mass and as research has shown, the older I got the more this would happen – unless I took some action. I needed to do some strength and conditioning training.
Having done weight training earlier in my life I knew how challenging and lonely it can be in a gym so wanted something different – thankfully I was introduced to Maidstone Bootcamp. I’ve been a member now for four years and in that time my muscle mass has improved, helping me to increase my fitness levels further. Attending two classes a week, each session is varied, including strength and conditioning exercises using dumbbells and kettlebells balanced with cardio and resistance exercise.
Tracy and her team make every member feel welcome and cater for all levels of fitness. When joining Maidstone Bootcamp, you are joining a bootcamp family that will support and encourage you. If you are looking to push yourself, you’ll find members to bounce off, driving each other on to higher levels.
If you are looking to lose a few pounds then regular weigh-ins are available so you can track stats such as visceral fat loss, muscle gain, waist size. In the past 12 months I’ve lost over a stone in weight, bringing the visceral fat levels down along with my jean size! For me the proof is in the pudding and at age 59 I have completed London Landmarks Half Marathon in 1h 41m and ran my last park run 21m 42s – and my liver is back to being healthy. I put a lot of this down to the work at Maidstone Bootcamp. And if that’s not enough there is the added benefit of exercising outdoors which can’t be beaten on a summer evening.”
